This 15-day tour will take you through Rwanda’s most popular National park of Volcanoes National Park. Expect to do Gorillas in Uganda Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, see animals of the savanna like lion, elephants, buffalo, giraffe and be sure to see the big 5. This trip specifically includes, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable National park, Queen Elizabeth National park, Kibale Forest National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo National Park and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Uganda.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival

Arrive at Kigali Airport, our representative will be waiting for you, who will brief you about your safari and transfer you to your accommodation in Kigali.

Day 2

Genocide Memorial Centre-Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, visit the genocide memorial Centre in Kigali town to experience how more than a million Rwandese lost their lives in a tribal conflict. Thereafter you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes national park lies in the North western Rwanda and borders with Virunga National park in Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga gorilla national park in Uganda. Check in Kinigi Guest House on the foothills of Virunga ranges for dinner and overnight

Day 3

Dian Fossey hike

After breakfast, we prepare for Dian Fossey hike. This guided hike takes you to where Fossy and Digit were buried and you can see the remains of her former research camp. Along the way, you will also learn more about Dian Fossey’s life and the tragic circumstances surrounding her death. You will as well see the house in which Dian Fossy was strangely murdered back in 1985 however more calm is at the place where she was laid to rest just close to her most loved gorilla-Digit and close to 20 other Gorillas some of which were killed by brutal poachers and others suffered death due to other reasons. Her tomb stone reads “No one loved Gorillas More Rest in peace, dear friend eternally protected in this sacred ground for you are home where you belong.” After an amazing one hour, return to the trailhead, head back to the lodge and relax.

Day 4

Volcanoes National Park- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, the safari will continue, drive through the beautiful landscape of Rwanda and Uganda cross Cyanika Border to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Lunch will either be parked or hot en-route arriving late in the afternoon, relax at the lodge with stunning views of the beautiful rain forest where you will undertake the gorilla trekking the following day at Mahogany Lodge

Day 5

Gorilla Tracking- Optional Community Tour

After breakfast and depart with your picnic lunch, we drive to the park office for briefing on the do’s and don’ts during trekking. Thereafter we will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your next adventure. Trekking takes 4-6 hours depending on the gorilla movements. The beauty in this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers dramatically steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Depending on your interest and time permitting, you may proceed for the optional community encounter or else relax at the lodge.

Day 6

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park- Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a calm breakfast, Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with lunch boxes, through the southern part of the park in the Ishasha sector famous for tree climbing lions on a lucky mid-morning or afternoon you will see them resting on fig trees. Do a game drive in search for the tree climbing lions, Cape buffalo, elephants, Uganda kob, warthogs and elephants and many tropical birds. Have your picnic lunch on the Ishasha River overlooking 100’s of hippos at a close distance. Thereafter proceed with this journey to the northern part of the park. Check in your accommodation at Mweya Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 7

Morning Game Drive -Afternoon Boat Cruise

Enjoy early morning coffee, and go for game drive to increase on your animal count, drive towards Kasenyi plains the home of unique wildlife. Expect to see some members of the big 5 like lions, buffaloes, elephants and other mammals like hyenas, Uganda kob, Warthog, water bucks, bush backs and various bird species. In the afternoon, u will participate in a boat ride along the kazinga Channel which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. It’s a relaxing ride as you will appreciate the high scores of elephants, crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes cooling off at the shores and different species of birds including great pelicans both migrant and immigrants. Back to the lodge for sunset drinks and snacks while viewing the reflection of the sun in the Lake Edward and blue hills of Congo in a distance.

Day 8

Queen Elizabeth National Park-Kibale National Park

Have early breakfast, continue the trip to Kibale National Park after a short game drive, cross the equator line to Fort Portal town. Proceed to Kibale National park and you will reach in time for lunch. In the evening embark on Bigodi wetland excursion. This wetland boasts of an extensive array of biodiversity including several primates such as black and white Columbus monkey, baboons and various bird species such as great blue turaco. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9

Chimpanzee Tracking

After breakfast, drive to the park offices for briefing. Begin the chimpanzee walk with a ranger guide. On a lucky day you will see chimpanzees play on trees as they climb up and down which will give you a soothing experience with them. They will make a lot of hooting which makes it easy to located. Get back to the lodge for lunch and relax. In the afternoon you can go for an optional community and coffee tour to experience the livelihood of the local people.

Day 10

Kibale National Park- Murchison Falls National Park

Have breakfast, drive through the beautiful landscape of Albertine Rift valley to Murchison Falls National Park. Head straight to the top of the mighty falls where the Nile squeezes through a 7 meters’ gorge to the falls 45 meters, a very impressive view of the foaming waters rushing into the gorge with a deafening roar. It’s a beautiful sight here for incredible picture moment. Thereafter proceed to Paraa Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 11

Morning Game Drive-Afternoon Boat Cruise

Have early breakfast a set off for a morning game drive on the Northern delta with sightings of cape buffaloes, Jackson’s hartebeest, Rothschild’s giraffes, oribi, water bucks, jackals bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, warthog and large carnivores including lions, elusive leopard and spotted hyenas.
You will return to the lodge for relaxation before setting off for the afternoon boat trip on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the Murchison falls where you will be rewarded with spectacular views. En-route you will see hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants cooling off on the shores from the scotching sun and a variety of bird species.

Day 12

Murchison Falls-Kidepo National Park

After your breakfast, we leave Murchison falls National Park we leave for Kidepo Valley National park through Wankwar gate. We stop in Kitgum town for lunch en-route to Kidepo Valley National Park. Kidepo Valley is one of the wildest game reserves in Africa. The landscape throughout the park is comprised of small hills, inselbergs and rock outcrops which provides a stunning view in all directions. Check in Savannah Camp. In the evening embark on a game drive along the Narus River Valley for game sighting of elephants, jackals, Jackson’s Hartebeest. Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 13

Game Drive- Optional Community Tour

The day will begin with game drive throughout the area with adequate circuits. We drive to the hot springs through the palm tree lined Kidepo River in search for ostriches, leopards and tortoise. The game sighting will be at close range. In the evening drive to the nearby village where you will spend time with the Karamojong pastoralists. Get back to the lodge for the wilderness overnight stay

Day 14

Kidepo National Park- Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast drive through Gulu town to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. Check in Amuka Safari Lodge for relaxed evening, dinner and overnight. Rhinos are being reintroduced in Uganda

Day 15

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary-Entebbe/Kampala

Enjoy a calm breakfast, go for a guided Rhino trekking safari to have a complete feel of the Africa big five. Here you will trek the rhinos on foot with a ranger guide and see the rhinos at a close and safe distance. Continue to Kampala for lunch and souvenir shopping at the African craft village.
